Last week I went to Germany for three days. I went with my immediate boss who is also a retired Marine LtCol. He's a gov't "senior" or the equivelent of a 2-star. The first evening over our 2nd glass of wheat beer he let slip that he is an avid mtn biker. The next two hours were spent swapping lies and comparing crash stories.
It's a good news bad news kind of thing though.
The bad news, if he calls over looking for me and I'm not there he'll guess where I am OR the good news, he will understand when I want to leave work a little early to beat the daylight!

Biggest mistake I ever made at my last client's site was showing up for work one (ostensibly...) miserable rainy/*windy* day with windsurfing stuff strapped to the top of my vehicle. -- PeteCresswell
Pete, try the "it stays on all season" ploy. I carry two boards and a box full of sails/masts/booms most of the summer - just in case. Mind you, my boards are old and look pretty used, especially in my thrashed board bags.
Wish I could also leave a bike hooked onto my trailer-hitch rack. But it would last about 2 minutes without an armed guard with all the slimeballs out there...
