  1. Today I went for my weekly after work ride. The trail I usually hit is a 5.8
mile out and back (11.6 total). Its all downhill out and all uphill back.
There is no single track, its all rails to trails type stuff. My previous
best round trip time was 1 hour 10 minutes. Today's time was 57 minutes.
That includes taking a couple side trails down to the river and stopping to
put my contact lense back in. Now maybe I will sleep tonight....

It always feels good to pass some certain timeframe (e.g. an hour). Good
    job!

    Nice!

Which do you prefer, all down then up, or vice versa?

I think I have this fear that if I ride down too far, I'll never be able
to make it back up =P In contrast, my husband, whose favorite part of
mtb'ing is the climb (gak!), likes that setup because it forces him to
    finish the ride.

  4. Down and back up is the only option. The trail dead ends at a railroad out
in the middle of nowhere. Its not a tought climb, just a long steady pull.
