  1. I'm curious - do local bike shops typical do repaint jobs / is that something you can do yourself (easily?).

    The reason I ask is that I found a bicycle that I very much would like to buy but it is only offered in bright, vivid, yellow. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not exactly my cup of tea.

    How hard would it be for me to get it a new color that looks like it was purchased that way (IE - I don't want to just spray paint the whole thing black or something).

    Very few shops do paint. It would not be cost effective to get a repaint on a new bike. A quality custom bike paint job is easily $200+, up to $500 for the best. You probably should shop around a little more for a different bike that you like the looks of better or learn to like the yellow.
