What other newsgroups do people belong to ?

I sure I recognise a few names from both uk.food+drink.misc, uk.rec.running, uk.rec.climbing &
uk.rec.walking.

Out of curiosity, what parts of the country are people from ?

Regards,

Andrew

running??? Can't do that - the items held in the overshoulderboulderholder would give me black-eyes
;-) Climbing - did it once on a rock face in the cheviots - never again :) Walking - I like Rambling

Shouldn't reply, can't resist. alt.rec.bicycles.recumbent rec.juggling rec.sport.unicycling
uk.local.bath uk.local.bristol

Although I now mark most threads as ignored - the only groups I still read in any detail are
rec.sport.unicycling and uk.rec.cycling.

I recently stopped subscribing to comp.databases.pick, uk.rec.camping and uk.people.parents, because
I wasn't getting enough out of them to justify the time spent reading the headers.

Tunbridge Wells, but now living in Bristol.

Hi All

this group is always my first port of call but I'm also often in:

alt.os.windows2000 alt.os.windows-xp uk.comp.os.win2000 uk.comp.training Microsoft.public.....oooh
loads of them. Guess what my job is!

Outside of work: rec.bicycles.racing rec.bicycles.tech uk.music.alternative
alt.sports.baseball.chicago.cubs alt.sports.football.pro.pitt-steelers

and recently the always entertaining uk.transport

I prefer newsgroups to the web, I must be strange :) All the best

I'm guilty of the last two there, also rec.ski.backcountry, rec.games.board and uk.games.board, plus
the shell that is uk.rec.boats.paddle gets the odd scan.

Then, if you can imagine such a thing, I do use news on a professional basis to help get Actual Work
done too (how I originally came across
it). comp.unix.solaris, comp.protocols.dicom, comp.lang.idl-pvwave and comp.os.netware.misc

Originally from Bexley (SE London, right on the border with Kent).

the hierarchies very but roughly: running orienteering yorkshire archers (not archery!)
food+drink.indian crosswords and numerous comp.lang, comp.object and comp.software groups relating
to the day job.

Other than u.r.c, I occasionally pop up on other cycling ng's, and some scienctific ones for
PhD-related stuff. I'm a regular on uk.railway, sharing my obscure knowledge (or lack of it) of that
mode of transport with the rest of the ng, as well as uk.rec.models.rail, and occasionally drop in
on uk.transport.london for Tube-related stuff.

Same here (well, Wednesfield to be precise), but based in Yorkshire almost all of my adult life for
academic reasons. Still pop back home to see Mum & Dad, though, making very infrequent pilgrimages
to Molineux (due to ticket prices seemingly having gone through the roof).

Famous/infamous for its bye-law allowing pubs to open as early as 9:30
a.m. on market days! Also (apparently) had, by a long chalk, the highest concentration of pubs per
head in South Staffs. (and possibly further afield) for many years!

my partner and I do 2 or three days or part days a week by bike. hills, weihgt to carry, distances
and time pressures vary and have to be accommodated. We think its an important duty to be seen doing
it.The fact we enjoy it is a bonus.i think it's really odd that it's not the norm for most GP's to
do some cycling thanks for the anderson paper which is now on display around the surgeries. It has
immediately reduced the time I spend explaining my choice of transport.
