A two pairs day

We had a very slight frost on Monday. Still in shorts, but I did wear my
ski gloves :-) (And a warm top). I find so long as my upper body, head
and hands are warm, it's OK.

I rode out to Dunning for a cup of tea at the bakery (but no scones - the
bathroom scales are being churlish at the moment :-( ) and back home over
the Gask ridge. I swear that damned hill will get me one day. It definitely
becomes steeper each time I ride it, due to some obscure disturbance in the
earth's rotation.

ah you're Nesh! Mind you I am a few degrees further South ( that's assuming
you're not in Perth in Oz).

We have had two frosty nights so far -- which have killed of my still
flowering Dahlias and I have today brought in my non hardy fucias for the
winter. My flat takes on the aspect of a jungle for the next few months!

I'm still in shorts and will stay that way if winter is like last year, Only
worn longs of any kind 6 times in the last 21 months. In the winter I carry
my waterproof over trousers just in case but I haven't worn them since one
cold morning beside the Rhein last year

I do wear a windproof top and a good base layer under my shirt and if it gets
a bit cold & wet I will put on warm overshoes. I now carry my gloves in my bag
just in case my fingers get too cold in mitts!

Mind you, at my advanced years, I don't have to worry what I look like or
what people might think or say and I wear shorts all day whether I am cycling
or not!

Well that was a new one on me. I don't think we have an equivalent
Scots word for "over-sensitive to cold". Of course Scottish persons of
a certain character might describe someone who's "nesh" as something
along the lines of "a big Jessie".

In any event, I refute the charge. It was perishing here this morning!

It was bloody cold in Weston-super-Mare this morning at 7:15, I can tell
you! A real good, hard frost. The view across the airfield was really
picture-postcardy, with grass and hedges all white, the mist hovering
over the place. Then look ahead to the mist-shrouded Mendips with the
sun just coming up behind casting an orange glow - really nice.

But bloody cold :-)
