A520 Shimano pedal - opinions, please?

Hi All,

I've used a basic SPD pedal before, which made my knees hurt (?), have
switched to Time Atac, and my knees have been happy ever since.

I love the large cliping plataform of the Atacs, and I normally push
my foot to as away as possible from the cranks as the pedals allow me.
I guess I ride with my feet like a duck, but that's how I'm
confortable, and that the most important for me.

Recently, I've began considering using a larger plataform pedal, as
after a long ride I get a somewhat unconfortable feeling on the part
of the foot just above the cleat only, therefore thought that a larger
spread of efford on my feet might help.

So, the Shimano PD-A520 seems like a bigger plataform pedal, while
still allowing me to use recessed cleats - I insist on this, sorry.

My doubt, since I first used SPDs and did not like them, is because a
friend of mine tells me Shimano has a diferent SPD cleat, with more
float. The fact, I can't get exact information about this - fact, or
fiction, please??

Another doubt, is if the position of the SPDs, regardless of the float
allowed, would be at least as confortable (knee wise) as I find the
Atacs - is it just a matter of float, or something closer to a
Q-factor which the wide Atac entry allows me to adapt to?

Any other sugestions? The Time Z? The Crank Brothers Candy? Ridding
Atac with a stifer sole shoe - road shoe, perhaps??

TIA,
BigBen.
