  1. I have a Cannondale Silk Path 300 with 700 x 38c IRC Grip Glide tires front and rear on Sun Rims AT18. I've been doing some biking in sandy conditions, and the bike has more than met its match (getting bogged down).

I have no illusions about being able to get through all of it, but I thought I'd improve my odds by adding a fatter tire on the front (at the least). I'm not sure if I'll swap back for more road-heavy conditions, but I thought that thicker front and OEM rear would be a good compromise.

Any thoughts? What can I get away with?
