hi,

I have decided to buy a Giant TCR1 composite bike but am not sure what size would best suit me. I am much 6 foot (184cm) and the LBS recommended a size of 50cm (M) because it would be stiffer and lighter. Before buying I would like some further input to decide if this would be the correct size or if a 53.5cm (M-L) would be better.

thanks in advance :)

thanks gclark8, going by that I should be going for the M-L?

That's a puzzle in that particular brand, isn't it?

Generally, a 6 foot tall man would ride a 58cm traditional size bike.

However, that's right in-between the medium and large on the chart you showed.

I'm also 6 foot, and find that the medium sized bikes show epic seatpost while the handlebars are far too low. For me, the large size results in more long-distance power.

It is not really possible to go by height, alone. I am 6'0", but have short legs and a long torso. My inseam is only 30", while most people my height have a 32" inseam. The frame (and model) that fits me best would not necessarily be the best for other people my height. That is why there is such an overlap in the chart above. Ride the M/L and the L and see which one feels right.
