Hello! I am wanting to introduce a running program into my exercise schedule but need some help.
Currently I exercise about 3 times a week (on average) at my local YMCA. My program currently
consist of cardio of either indoor cycle or walking on the treadmill for 30-45 minutes and follow up
with some weight training. I have no problem with these exercises. Also I am in good health, my
weight is 125-130lbs and height is 5'9'. I have decided to introduce running into my exercise
program and would like to start doing some 5K races maybe at the end of the year or early next year.
The problem I have is I cant run, I run to the end of my block and I am out of breath and my side
hurts. I also have problems with my throat getting really dry, I guess I am breathing thru my mouth
and not thru my nose? I don't understand how I can walk at a fast pace on a treadmill for 45 minutes
but I cant run on a treadmill for 3 minutes without feeling like I am out of breath. Can anyone give
me some advice or tips? Maybe even a training schedule. Thanks.
