I have an opportunity to buy a Cannondale CAAD 5 Stars and Stripes bike for $750. It has ceramic bearings, carbon seat post, Shimano 105 groupo and an Ultegra rear derailer. I'm a novice at biking. In face this will be my first road bike. I'm getting it for long rides and beginning triathlons. My buget is around $1000. Can someone let me know if this is a good buy and worth the money? Or suggest something else within my price range. Thanks!

You could probably pick up a 2011 Cannondale CAAD 9 or 10 for $1000. That would be a much better buy. Don't let features like ceramic bearings entice you into buying a much older bike. The CAAD frames have come a long way in the last 5 models and the group sets have progressed a lot as well. In the grand scheme of things, ceramic bearings are a few rungs down the ladder of things that are important. Carbon posts are ten-a-penny too... IF the CAAD frames offer a geometry that fit you then go for the newest one you can get.

It sounds like a excellent choice.
I highly recomend those bikes and the 105 group.
The price seems reasonable to me.
