aero bar question

Hi I just returned from the Netherlands where I entered an Olympic
distance tri. The officials there with NTB told me that next year the
shifters at the end of my aerobars will be illegal and I will be
required to have no aerobar 15cm forward of the front axle. The bars
will also have to be connected. Personally I am not too worried about
this because I won't be back there for while. However, 1. does anyone
know if the USA & Canadian officials are considering this? and 2. given
the fact that my shifters are in the aerobar, what would be an
approximate price to purchase shifters and replace my brake levers?

Thanks Onne

that is interesting as those are ITU rules for pro triathletes. they do
that for the draft legal races. it is possible they are adopting htem
for age groupers but that would be strange. any more info???

Yeah, that was my question: is this race draft-legal?

Thanks for the replies.
This was not a draft-legal race. Olympic Distance race with about 200
age groupers. The official just told me straight out that next year my
bars would be illegal.
