hi, I am currently riding with 38 -54, 9 speed rings on a 130BCD,

simple question

as I live in a very hilly area, I would like to change down to 34 - 52, as the current size I feel is too big, is this possible? or will it affect the front mec too much ?, even when it is lowered a bit.

cassette is 12 - 26, just for info

Thanks /img/vbsmilies/smilies/smile.gif

another question, i have the Shram PG 950 12-26 cassette, can i change the 26 for a 28 and say the 23 for the 26 or a 25 ?? instead of the expence of changeing the front rings ??

Thankyou muchley

38 is a small as you can go with that crank. Nobody has yet figured out how to run a chain through chain ring bolts.

It's not easy to change individual cogs on your cassette but very easy to swap the entire 12-26 cassette for a 12-28 or 11-28 cassette which is as large as you can go on most SRAM road drivetrains.

The 38x28 gear combo is roughly the same as a 34x25 gear combo and almost as low as a 34x26 but not quite.

Thanks for the replies, think I might go with the cassette change, as this will be easy and not to expensive.
