Alaska to San Francisco?

I've got a couple of months free this summer and I'm looking to do
something epic. One of my thoughts is an Alaska to San Francisco ride.
I'm particularly interested in starting points, backroads, fireroads,
etc.

Any other info also appreciated.

Take a look at "The Milepost", you should be able to sample a copy at
local book store. It has very good descriptions of roads in Alaska,
Yukon and a few of the approach roads to the North.

The book, "Bicycling the Pacific Coast" gives one description of the
American Pacific coast.
