I had really hoped that this frame would work out, but it is just too
small for me.
For sale is an Alpinestars AlpineKross steel frame with fork and a few
bonus parts. This frame seemed to be a bit ahead of the times (early
90's vintage), with a compact-style frame design and straight-bladed
cromo fork. With tons of stand over room, I was hoping that it would
make a perfect cyclocross bike for trail riding. Alas, at 6'3, I was
just too big for the frame. The frames top tube is 56cm measured
along the tube, but more like a 57 horizontally. Probably best for
someone right around 6'0.
The frame itself is in great shape, with no dents or cracks. The
paint has a few knicks and scratches, and the decals show their age in
places, but I don't see any rust. I was able to get a 35c Speedmax
in there, so tire clearance should not be a problem. For added
versatility, its got rack and fender mounts at the rear dropouts, and
eyelets at the fork dropouts as well
Also included with the frame will be a stem, an Avenir cromo seatpost,
and an XT threaded headset. Nothing fancy, but solid parts to get
you going (the XT headset still rolls like buttah).
