I'd tell you, but it'd be off-topic.

Since my knee is still not good there's not much to be said about cycling. Maybe people are
suffering from injuries and seasonal colds?

Personally, I don't mind OT, but all the flaming is getting pretty boring. I'm guessing the flaming
isn't anything new, though.

I suppose that someone could always take up the initiative of creating a moderated MB newsgroup. Is
there any interest for such a thing?

There is one: rec.bicycles.off-road. AFAIK, the official description of alt.mountain-bike is still,
"use rec.bicycles.off-road". R.B.O is a failed experiment in moderation, but any suggestions to
un-moderate it (which I make from time to time) are quickly rebuked by the half-dozen or so people
that still use it.

If I send the TV Remote Fairy along with him can I get a two-fer? Sort of an am-b discount?

Actually, many years ago I got turned onto the Sony RM-AV1000, (now the AV2100 (
http://www.remotecentral.com/av2100/ ) It is _just_ big enough to not get lost, but small enough to
not be cumbersome for little hands to operate.... And one remote runs EVERYTHING (including X-10).
The individual remotes get velcro'ed to the sides of the components they came with as a "back-up"
just in case. It takes 6 AA batteries but if you run NIMh rechargeable that is not an issue.

> Sort of an am-b discount?

I don't charge for ass-whipping, A.M-B folks, that is. (making sure that grammar is correct on that
statement ;-)

Yeah, that's the one we've got, too. It still falls inside the couch (it's one of those with the
built-in recliners). Or gets buried in piles of throw pillows, or under the comforter. I also
periodically find it in the hall bathroom. I don't even want to speculate what THAT might be about.

The fellow I work with has three sons. The youngest, if watching one of his programs, will take
the remote to the bathroom to prevent the older two from changing the channel. They are too lazy
to get up.

Nice seque!

For those that are interested, I am now Windows free! I did end up going with Debian Linux...I'm
tracking their testing distribution and it's working great...got all the functionality I need, sans
my gps, but my serial ports been busted on this machine for years. I'll get a new one and get that
going too.

OK, I'll stop...just frustrated because my SS biking was derailled (heh heh, get it?) by a sick
spouse and a busy 2-yr old.

Not all bad...fun trip to the zoo and running around (literally) the neighborhood.

Yeah, feel free to visit rec.bicycles.off-road...it gets a whopping 2 posts a day or something
like that.

No fun man, give me the near-real-time unmoderated wildly-off-topic flame-laced posting
action of AMB!

...and we'll talk about bikes some too.
