Americans who have worn Maillot Jaune

The media is stating that Hincapie is only the 4th american to wear the maillot jaune (LeMond, LA, Zabreskie, and George). Didn't jeff Pierce or one of the other 7-11 team members have the jersey for a stage way back when. If memory serves Pierce is Canadian?

Didn't jeff Pierce or one of the other 7-11 team members have the jersey for a stage way back when.

Stages were won by Americans Davis Phinney (7-11) and Andy Hampsten (Motorola, I think). They raced in Europe at about the same time as Lemond, but Lemond was the only US race leader until Armstrong.
