And of course nobody involved -- the reporter, the cops, the parents, the school staff -- apparently
even asks whether the kid was ever trained in traffic safety rules and practices before being
allowed to ride his bike on the road. "Failed to yield the right of way?" There are people out there
who are believe that cars are supposed to yield to bicycles because bicyclists are pedestrians.

Bah.

Exactly! Here's another one. http://www.fayettevillenc.com/story.php?Template=local&Story=5958385

Not only are the parents telling the kid that it's not his fault, but they think that the right
lesson is to refuse to pay the ticket.

If the police didn't issue the ticket, the owners of the car would have had to pay for the repairs,
but of course this mother doesn't give a damn about that, so long as she and her son don't have to
take responsibility for their actions.
