Divorcing his first wife put him on the RADAR of the Vatican because he was raised Catholic and was married in the church. Getting remarried made him an outcast. This is long coming but understandably delayed considering the skeleton's the Church has in its closets.

America would be so much better off if they kept religion out of politics.

But when a politican carries a 10-pound Bible into a church for a photo op...and another is photographed speaking from the pulpit...

People who live in glass houses...

You mean like massacring all the "savages" and stealing their land?

I was just talking to one of my friends today & told him that many (mainly white?) people were very upset to be evicted from the blue ridge mountains to establish the Shenandoah National Park. I then told him that the native americans know that feeling only too well. The park SAVED the land, although nobody can live there now. 10's of 1000's, each year, are able to travel through the park which would not be as vibrant if it were'nt for the federal protection.

No it is like calling someone an evil witch and burning them.
(salem witchcraft trials) Suprisingly, they were motivated by religion.

Like starting a country where you are free to make statements such as yours. Of course you are always free to return where your ancestors came from.

Why, exactly, is support for the death penalty not grounds for excommunication (if, indeed, the originally posted story is true) but abortion is? Yes, it is typically murderers, etc. (although some may be innocent), but from what I know about Catholic doctrine, killing is killing and is never justified except for in very, very special cases.
