I'm trying out a setup w/Rotor Q-Rings 53/34 and my bike mechanic is spent a lot of time trying to get it to work (DA 7800/7900 hybrid). The only times it works when shifting to the big ring--and it works only sometimes--is when I'm on the 28 of my rear cassette @ v high cadence. No rhyme or reason that I can make out. Anyone else have any success setting up 53/34s?
I've done 52 regular with a 34 rotor - using a standard 7900 front mech. The trick is using a 7800 series chain. For some reason I could never get really smooth shifts with rotor rings with the 7900. 50/34 ( both rotor ) works better with the 7800 chain too. Having the front mech a few mm higher than the ~3mm norm helps too.
Thanks--I will try w/7800 chain. Do you think a round 34 Rotor would make a difference in shifting, too (guessing that the 34 Q-Ring isn't that impactful)?

Hi swampy1970, I am definitely going to give the 7800 chain a go. The one I had was a little short, so I will have to get another one
@KLabs: My setup is basically DA7800 shifters, FD; DA7900 chain, RD, 11-28 cassette. Going to try the old 7800 chain when I get around to it
