Anyone here ever work as a Bike Messenger?

To me, this was the worst job I had ever had! You think you'd be happy biking for work and getting a nice workout while working but that gets old quickly. And working in a complete day of cold raining weather making deliveries is so depressing and can give your fingers frostnip. To top it off was the messenger companies radio fee and the extremely low pay... I made $900 in 1 month of deliveries.

Then risk to life and limb from careless drivers and taxis.

Life sucks big time if this is your occupation. At least I lost 5 lbs and ate very well while being a bike messenger. The job made me hate getting on a bike for work...

What sucks for you is what some others live for. There is a certain breed of rider that enjoys dodging taxis and bad drivers, and considers this job a challenge to be faced rather than just a task to be done. The pay is not great but it beats sitting behind a desk, plus there is more money for faster deliveries, not to mention the tips. By the way, what bike were you riding for your deliveries?
