  1. I have decided to begin training for a few 5K's this summer, as I
needed a "goal" to attain. I'm not in horrible shape, but have recently
begun running regularly. I recently purchased a new pair of shoes, and
am wondering what the best way to break them in would be. I ran in them
for the first time, and my feet were killing me!! Also, any suggestions
on running clothes would be appreciated. I currently run in basketball
shorts and a cotton t-shirt. THANKS!!

  2. Running hoes should never, ever hurt the first run.
They are as likely to worse and turn your feet into hamburger
as they are to break in.
Perhaps you can still return them for the proper size.

Clothes dont matter too much unless they become uncomfortable.
Clothes not designed for running could have seams in the wrong
place and scrape the skin. And then not depending on your shape.
Also clothes specifically designed for running may dry off quickly
while you run. Other kinds of clothes may just get wet and heavy
and scrape sensitive parts of the skin too.

Rick the idiot is right. THere is no way you'll salvage those shoes.
Return them and get the right size.

You should get different running shoes. They
should be the most comfortable things you've
ever worn with no breaking in time.
