Hey folks,

I'm going to be aquiring an older bike that has a Shimano 7 cog cassette, I want to move up to a tripple crankset and I see the new ones will say "Shimano 9 speed compatible" Will it also work with my currnet cassette?

or am I just getting the lingo all wrong?

p.s. I know I'll have to get a new derailuer too for the tripple chain ring.

You'll also need a correct BB for the triple crank. It'll work. just use a sram 8 speed chain.
