Arran coastal path

Haven't tried the coast path there before, but on the plus side you'll
never be /too/ far from some sort of refuge and bailing out via local
roads with your thumb should be an easy enough option.

Weather... well, it's the west of Scotland, so it might be nice or there
might be a monsoon on. Expect midges in mid July if the air is still.

How new is "newbie"? What experience and have you spent any time on
Arran before? If the answer to the last one is "none" then Glen Rosa
provides some glorious and easy walking (and some serious technical
scrambles if you want) and a nice campsite you can use as a base for 2
or 3 days within walking distance of Brodick for supplies, eateries etc.

There's nothing glaringly different about walking round Arran to what
you'll have been used to elsewhere in the UK. The "Scotland in
miniature" tag is a reasonable one, so that means a lot less emptiness
to concern you purely from the reduced scale. It's a nice place, have fun!
