Low-carb fad fizzles
REMEMBER the low-carb fad? Super-size that bacon-double cheeseburger,
just be sure to hold the bun!
Well, mark your calendars, because the low-carb craze appears all but
dead. Must have had a coronary.
There was a time long, long ago -- last year -- when there was scarcely
a product on the market that didn't offer a "low-carb" version --
bread, pasta, ice cream, even beer.
But now surplus low-carb Atkins diet foods that were never sold are
being shipped to food banks in Appalachia. Products for which people
were once willing to pay top dollar now must be given away.
Apparently the public has learned, once again, that there's no way to
make the weight disappear without eating less and exercising. Too bad.
Better put down that bacon-double cheeseburger, bun and all.
