Question: Paid. The user has already deposited the
value of this question. Question: " I have had
increasing difficulty with equalization of pressure in
my middle ear. This occurs when gaining or losing
elevation. The problem began about 27 years ago and
would only happen if I had a cold. It has progressed
to the point that it happens most of the time, whether
or not I have a cold and happens whether I am in a car
or plane. It does not appear to be related to motion,
i.e. It can be a straight road or winding; if I am
driving or as a passenger.
I have had a CT and MRI with only the discovery of
some sort of cyst within the ethmoid sinus. I have
been prescribed Duratus, etc, and told to use over the
counter sinus medications.
Nothing seems to be working, I continue to experience
nausea with and without vomiting, dizziness and
disequalibrium and a sensation that I am leaning to
one side, usually to the left. When traveling by car,
I generally have someone else drive or I have to stop
along the way to allow my ears to equalize. More
recently, I have begun to experience a change of
sensation as I reach the pass and begin to head back
down in elevation.
My ENT assures me that the next step will likely be
tubes. I wish to avoid that because of side affects
and because I enjoy water sports and do not wish to
risk infections, etc.
Could you please provide me with some possible answers
or at least a source of information?"
