  1. Can anyone tell me how long the body has supplies of Vitamin B12. Some articles I've read states 1-2
years and others 4-5 so does anyoen know the truth of it?? As I was diagnosed with a B12 deficiency
a few months ago and was advised to take supps, I'm also wondering how long it takes your body to
recover its stores of B12. The Doc suggested that 'some symptoms will go in a couple of weeks and
others will take some months' so I'm just wondering how long to leave it till I go back. Can anyone
    help me pls???

I'm sure the time it takes to become deficient does vary, but 3 years is a good rough estimate. The
body is very efficient at recycling the B12 it has on hand, so it takes a long time to become
deficient even if your intake is inadequate.

Getting back up to proper levels once deficient is much speedier. Give it a couple months and you
should be back up to snuff.

It's also worth noting that B12 deficiencies are most often caused by inadequate absorption, NOT
inadequate intake (though that's also possible). So don't assume that you aren't deficient any
longer just because you know you're ingesting enough B12. Definitely go back to the doc in a while
    to have it checked again.

  3. Eric.....thanks SO much for replying. I've tried to do a lot of internet research on this but
couldn't get past vegetarianism (I'm not) and basic symptoms. As it will be two months of super
vitamins and I still feel like [censored] I'll make it sooner rather than later. Very many thanks. Pat

Hello Pat. Read the following discussion from awhile ago for some insights.

I started taking 3,000mcg per day of a time release B-12 and within a few weeks felt much improved.
If you lack intrinsic factor you may have to take massive quantities like that just to have enough
passively absorbed, but it won't hurt you. You can't really OD on B-12.
