We just got a tagalong bike made by instep from sports authority. You know the type, it's the back end of a kids bike on a long bar that connects to the adults seat post. It's horrible! It wiggles as you ride, causing horrible handling up front, and its angled as you ride - you are vertical the kid is at least 10+ degrees off straight vertical. We have a burley trailer that exhibits NONE of these characteristics. My question: Is this typical of the tag-along type bikes, or is it just this brand or just a bad bike? It was 100 bucks at the store, I know the treks are like $160. Any experiences or feedback?

It's probably the tag-along. I have an Adams "Trail-a-Bike" and it works great.

Go get your $$ back and get a good one. The Trek's look really nice.
