I am wrapping a new set of bars, and after viewing many videos on you tube, Park Tool web site, and other sites; half wrap toward the bike CCW, and half wrap away from the bike CW (on the right bar and then reverse on the other side). Does it really matter if the tape job is tight???

Doesn't need to be super tight, but if it's not at least snug then there's a chance of it sliding over time from the constant pressure of your hands.

also keep in mind that the tighter you wrap the tape the more "feel" you have on the handle bars.

I believe the best results for those who 'pull' the bar tape (like opening the throttle on a motorcycle) is to wrap CCW on the rt/Cw on the left when looking fwd/at the end of the handlebars. I learned that I tend to 'push' the tape fwd and will unravel this wrap over time so I wrap mine CW on the rt/CCW on the left. Hope this helps!

thanks to all who responded. I wrapped tonight and it looks gerat.

I plan to ride tomorrow
