  1. Hi

I'm upgrading a Shimano ES30 BB as it gone knacked
    I've brought a Ultegra 6500 Ocatlink BB,
it will fit, but I notice the spined length is shorter on the 6500 compare to ES30,
    will this be a problem?

I have done some research, I found the lower end BBs like ES30, 105, they have a longer spined. Where as the higher end BBs like XTR, XT, 6500 they have shorter spined. Why is this?

    Thanks
    Andy

There are two octalink splines,V1 and V2.They are incompatible!! Don't use that 65oo BB!

There are 2 Different Octalink systems and they are NOT compatible. Go buy the other BB that works with your cranks. Or if you really want to use that Ultegra BB go buy some other cranks.

  4. Hi

    Thanks for replies

V1 & V2, which one is the longer?

How can you tell which spine you need by looking at the crank?

    Thanks

    Andy
