  1. Hi,
Looks (well, sounds and feels, really...) like I need a new
bottom bracket on my touring bike. The current one is an SKF, with
Stronglight 100 triple chainset (square taper). I'm thinking that the
Stronglight 400/Aluminium looks like a good bet, since it's available
in the right length (127mm), ought to fit and is (worryingly?)
    inexpensive.

    Anyone any contrary advice?

FWIW, I fitted the SKF in the late '70s when I "upgraded" (a purist
might say "defiled"😉 the bike to a cotterless crankset and 18 speed
gears. The previous fitment was the original cottered steel setup,
1/8" chain, with three speed derailleur... That one lasted about 30
years, though it wasn't heavily used, latterly. The SKF has seen a
fair bit of use & abuse over about the same period, so I guess I
shouldn't complain. I don't think I expected to need to replace it,
    though!

Secondary question- anyone know of a UK source for old Suntour
freewheels (ultra-6)? I've only been able to find US based eBay
sellers. The bike's already been cold-set significantly and I don't
really want to risk pushing it too far (nor face buying new wheels).

    Cheers,
    W.
