Hi all, A little pecker head kid ran into my wife and bent her front wheel on a Giant Cypress. Can a LBS fix it or do I have to go for a new rim, I was thinking of getting a steel rim or something stronger than the stock rim.

Thanks Tony

A new aluminum rim would be best as braking with steel rims isn't great and when they are wet they are a lot worse than aluminum... and aluminum is not good when wet.
Depending on the original wheel, the labor and parts to do the job may say replace the whole wheel, but save the tire and tube... if they are still good.
If you can get a double walled rim they are significantly stronger without being heavier.
