Upgrade parts or upgrade bike? If you think the bike is a good base for upgrading, then go for it, otherwise make sure you have a good base. In my case, I got a cannondale jekyll as my base, and I've already upgraded alot of the components, doubling the cost of my bike. I'm neurotic though Just depends on your intention.
