Your weight, riding style, terrain, weather, etc are all
important factors. For rolling resistance, given exactly the
same tire at exactly the same pressure where width is the
only difference, the wider tire will reduce rolling
resistance.

You can google groups for an explanation, but long
story short:
- Contact patch area is determined mainly by pressure and
load
- the wider tire at the same pressure doesn't have to
deform as much to provide the same contact patch, so
has less RR.

If you sometimes ride on rough roads, you will appreciate
the comfort and stability of 700 x 25. For a discussion of
