Halfords, the specialist auto-parts and bicycle retailer, has been racing through the gears. The company has managed a 5 per cent increase in pre-tax profits to £80.9m at the full-year stage and a 5.3 per cent rise in like-for-like sales, driven by strong demand for bicycles and car equipment.
