According to my Highway Code for bicycle riders book NSW c. Jan 1940, in the year ending June 30,
1939 there were 11,906 road accidents causing 545 deaths and injuries to 8,388 others. Amongst this
statistic there were 80 deaths among cyclists and 1,297 injuries.
In the previous year there were 76 cyclist deaths and 1,292 injuries.
Seems the roads have lots more cars & bikes now so as a percentage, we have never had it so good.
