  1. I am fairly new to cycling and am making a purchase next week. I live in Florida, the flat part! I am looking at the Roubaix Comp. I am 6'3 235, with powerfull legs, 1. Is this a good bike for my size? 2.Do I need to get diff. wheels to support my wieght? thanks in advance for help.

  2. i just bought a 2005 roubaix triple the other day with mavic ksyrium equipe rims.. so far no problems. i'm about 6 feet, 200 pounds.

    I would expect the wheels to give you trouble "down the road". You should learn how to "unweight" when going over bumps, etc. Use your hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow, and wrist joints to abosorb the G forces. Lift you rear end off the saddle whenever you see additional G Forces. This will help, but you can't always take every shock without returning something to the wheels. I see lots of riders ~ your weight on these wheels. Some manage, but many need the help of something stiffer and stronger. My personal suggestion is Velocity Deep V rims with at least 32 spokes and 36 in the rear isn't overkill. I also suggest Sapim Race 14/15 Double Butted spokes buitl 3 cross.
    Fit the widest tire you can, 28 mm if it clears. Keep them pumped to near the suggested maximum to protect the rims, but remember that they will provide better shock absorption at something less. (95 PSI or there abouts).
    If you get good + well built wheels you will spend less time in the repair shop and more time getting fit.
