Big Ring capacity of the Shimano Alivio MC-21 Front Derailleur?

Hi all:

I'm getting conflicting numbers as to the maximum number of teeth on
the big ring that the Alivio MC-21 front derailleur will handle.

Every single on-line vendor I've found that carries this derailleur,
e.g.,

http://tinyurl.com/2vjmxu
http://tinyurl.com/2n6fm4
http://tinyurl.com/2j5bhz

states a maximum big ring capacity of 46 teeth, while every Shimano
site I can find that discusses this derailleur, e.g.,

http://tinyurl.com/2rouh4
http://tinyurl.com/2nwu98
http://tinyurl.com/2n7cp3

lists only a 42 tooth capacity.

Who do you trust in situations like this? Or, am I somehow comparing
different derailleurs?

TIA.

Looks like Shimano changed their web sites between the time I posted
this and now. Only the last tinyurl shows the Alivio MC-21, and lists
the top ring capacity at 42T, as did all the others.
