29/2 and La Sals Mountain Course: This show picks up with more rock climbing, trail running and
mountain biking clinics and outings. The athletes endure adverse conditions and inclement weather
as they work their way through the La Sals with Hans Rey on his mountain bike, Cathy Sassin on a
desert run and Eric Philips with Russell Brice at 2 rock climbing sites in the La Sal mountains.
It's not what you typically envision when thinking of Moab in the fall. On another day, in an
individual format, athletes warm up with a 10-mile road ride to the official start of the La Sal
Mountain Course. From there they depart in a staggered fashion, commencing with a 5-mile mountain
bike ride to a transition zone where they dismount from their bikes and head off on foot. By the
time they reach the mountain pass summit, the apex of the course, they've climbed over 5,000'
over 10 miles and have 6 miles of downhill to go. By day's end the 24 athletes to emerge have
been announced by the experts (60)
