I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia about 4 years ago. Some days, it is all I can do to get out of bed. But, I have noticed that if I try to push through my pain and force myself to ride I actually end up feeling much better. Do any of you suffer from Fibro and does cycling help your symptoms?

I had it about a dozen or more years ago.

I went to my now Doctor and told him my mitochondria were not working right and went into what I thought was wrong with me from a biochemistry standpoint since I had done a lot of reading owing to my prior MDs not helping one bit and maybe making it worse.

Low level aerobic exercise helped a little for me. Go easy. Very easy.

Traditional Docs failed to help and I I went to a Wholistic Medical Doctor for a variety of treatments, supplements, and changes to how I was living. Took a few years to resolve fully. It is a complex breakdown of your endocrine and hormone systems. I wish you well. I beat it.

Fibromyalgia; really. It gets better when you push through the pain. Arthritis is like this too. The best thing to do is to make sure you eat really well. No foods that are a GMO or conventional produce. All of this can cause pain. It collects in areas and causes you terrible discomfort. Organic and raw foods are obviously better. You've gotta flush the toxins out. This is the only answer to these kind of new pseudo health issues.
It may take some time to cleanse your system and get rid of the pain, but it will happen.

Pseudo? Really? You expect her to listen to that.

BTW....I am pretty sure arthritis can't be cleansed and gotten rid of.

Unfortunately, many doctors believe that Fibro is all in the head. Let me assure you it is not. While riding my bike does help with the pain to some extent, it does not get rid of it completely. I have done much research on this condition and my doctors that diagnosed me have repeated more than once that there is no cure for fibro. Eating the right foods might help and I try to do that as much as possible, but it is not going to get rid of the pain. Wishful thinking.

Don't listen to Doctors who do not even understand the cause of Fibromyalgia.

It is definitely in your head....your HPA has gone haywire. Fibro can be beat...just don't expect any typical MD to help you at all and in fact many will say you are crazy. Your guidance and hormonal control system has your mitochondria buggered up.

Getting my thyroid working properly and sleep were my first two steps towards progress.

I would consider doing Jack Kruse's Leptin reset and doing everything possible to get good, regular sleep. That means sleeping by no later than 11 pm and getting a full 8-9 hours rest.

I have never experienced it but i'm curious what is the cause of all of it? Is it genetic?

I have not been diagnosed but I do know that pushing through it and getting a little active will definitely help with the pain.

Unfortunately, doctors do not know exactly what causes Fibromyalgia. It is believed to possibly be genetic, but could occur for other reasons too. I believe I inherited it from my father. He had many of the same symptoms I do, but at the time we had not heard of it and he was never diagnosed or treated. I am also a diabetic as he was, and it is common for a person to have more than one type of autoimmune disease at the same time. Here are some links about this condition.

You're welcome mooray. I've had to do a lot of research about this condition myself. I went through 4 different physicians before I could find one that would diagnose me. All the others tried to put my pain off on my diabetes and back problems.
