black decal over black paint

I'm ready to apply decals to a freshly painted Colnago Super except
for one problem, the paint is black and so is Ernesto Colnago's
signature. Does anyone know what was originally done on black
Colnago's? Was the signature decal left off? or possibly done in
white?
