  1. Hi everyone/anyone,

I had a hemorrhage last year after giving birth and wondered if anyone could clarify somthing for
me. Initially it was estimated I had lost 800mls, but 24 hours later my blood results came back
and ,my hemoglobin levels had fallen to 7.1 from 12.8, so it was recommended I had a transfusion
of two units. Because of this the midwife said I had probably lost more blood than first thought.
I was certainly unable to stand without passing out before being transfused. My question is, how
much blood would I have lost to have such a low hemoglobin level, and would my hematocrit level
have dropped more than 10% with such a blood loss? Hope you can help - I am curious to know the
facts before embarking on another pregnancy.

    Cheers

    Liz
