Coincidence or causality between iron overload and headaches (e.g.,
daily headache, migraine, and cluster headache) is still under
discussion. Herein we report a patient suffering from hereditary
hemochromatosis (homozygous C282Y mutation; OMIM: 235220, Locus
6p21.3) and daily headache fulfilling the IHSD-2 criteria of chronic
migraine. Three treatments by venesection improved the headache
substantially in frequency, intensity, and duration of attacks. We
suggest treatment by venesection for iron depletion in patients
suffering from hemochromatois and headache.

Iron overload is also called .. erythrocytosis / polycythemia.

Polycythemia / increased red blood cell production has a symptom of
headaches.

Seems iron reduction for headaches .. works.

Very true about polycythemia vera. I have a cat with that and the way to
control it was to make her a blood donor. But seriously, most, if not all,
of us here and anywhere else with migraines do not have hemachromatosis,
polycythemia vera, or any other hematological condition causing the
headaches, and we don't need bloodletting. Thanks anyway.
