With an entry on Velovision's comment forum of "As to compulsion. I am
with the zero tolerance brigade here. Compulsion is wanted and in my
opinion the best", I wouldn't say that's necessarily going to be the case...

The "don't confuse me with facts, my mind is made up" culture is still
alive and well, and living somewhere around Thornbury...

Give the guy a break.

I think you are wrong here Guy.

That was a short, useful post, giving a pointer to buy something
(a YAK) that rarely comes up for sale second hand.

I fully agree Arthur.
I too found the post useful.
Guy, you seem to take pleasure in trying to wind this contributor up
whenever he posts anything.

Too late. This is not some innocent newbie, it's someone with a long
track record of abuse, and so much for sale that he's clearly at least
somewhat commercial - in the sense of operating out of a garage if not
fully commercial. The pattern suggests at best "beating the taxman",
or at worst dealing knowingly in stolen goods.

Today I agree. Although it would have been better had he mentioned a) the
item number or a ebay url, and b) it's the version for 26" wheeled bikes.

cheers,

But the way it's been worded, as a professional salesperson, (hooky
goods or not) he has MADE you look up the details :)

It's enough that someone who might be interested can look it up, in
contrast with his earlier "items that might be of interest to this group"
posting, that might have been a campervan from the information in the post.

Is that so bad? This group has always allowed private sale ads. Pete Biggs
posts more pointers to ebay auctions and you don't complain about him.

I don't often disagree with you, but this strikes me as petty and personal.

He also takes an active part in the daily wossname.

Maybe. Something about the man rubs me up the wrong way; I think
serial eBayers are a bit like Amway salesmen. Selling off the odds
and sods at the bottom of your parts bin is one thing, but some people
sell /so/ much stuff that you can't help feeling they are buying it
and selling it on as a sideline. Nowt wrong with that in principle,
but using a non-commercial Usenet group as your personal billboard is
taking the **** rather.

A website with links to eBay auctions in a .sig of a regular would
bring no comment at all from me, and neither do sales from regulars.
I just have a low tolerance for spam, I suppose.

Dear Nick Kew,
Get real pal.Get a life pal. Do not even make a suggestion regarding STOLEN
GOODS. I am retired and lots of time to spare. ALL items I have sold have
been mine or friends who have DIED.
Get real.
John.

You lot just seem to be a great deal interested in me and my life. I have
noted the messages in 'sympathy' thank you those who made them. As to to the
rest of you, I never reply to questions online-I send to the postee direct
any suggestions. I do not like to be ridiculed in the way you seem to . But
I am happy to give my own opinion off list. This list does not seem to give
great details of fact. It merely confuses in general in MY own opinion that
is.
Regarding the advertised items they are all MINE , not stolen goods.
Regarding the advertising message itself I am happy to take any credit for
the Proffesional way it portrays-pure accident I am afraid.
Well here goes for even more abuse thrown at me.
John.

Not really, any more than I am interested in any other spammer. And
that's exactly what it is: unsolicited commercial messages.

I have never disputed your right to sell stuff on eBay, only to post
adverts *and nothing else* in this group. Plenty of regulars post
adverts, but they also join in with the daily life of the group.

Actually I was being helpful and telling you why people get ****** off
with you. For some reason you seem to be very defensive about your
behaviour.
