Isn't this type of petty exchange more appropriate to uk.tosspot? ;-)

Guy,
First of all I am most certainly-not-a spammer!
Secondly I have in the past replied with information towards helping solve
other posters questions. Generally speaking I get loads of spam, actually
from members listed in this grpoup.
Daily life on this particular group is 'hogged' by a small number of members
who seem to think, in my own opinion, that they can make up the rules.
Commercial unsolicited messages I do not post.
I have also quite a few members amongst this group who contact me frequently
when looking for parts. These persons I can sometimes supply parts needed or
more than likely put them in touch with other people who can help supply
whats wanted.
Best regards,
John.

Guy,
My being deffensive as you put it, is simply due to the nonsense messaging
about me and sent to me from persons on this group.
I do not intentionally ever set out to infringe on peoples liberty and as
such would appreciate my own being left alone too.
As to your being helpful as you put it, I fail to see in what direction?
Best regards,
John.

Commerce is buying and selling things. Thus, a private individual who
buys and sells things is engaged in commerce.

Hmm, interesting post. I vaguely remember the thread. Here's the quote
for those not wishing to following the link:

"""
hi, I saved and saved and scrimped to get a nice new L5 Brompton only a
couple of months ago. Cost over £600!! Rip off time indeed. I really
wanted a Brompton..I rode it twice. Sold it after 3 days11 why you ask?
I ripped both my ankles on the stupid rollers on the rear 'rack'. Total
dismay. Absolute rip off. Failed to m,impress. Only suit little people
who are desperate to commute on the train. As long as you have inward
turning toes like a duck you can ride one fine. Normal long leg
people=forget it! I was robbed. I even wrote to Andrew Richie at
Brompton. He did not even have the decency to aknowledge my letter.
Regards and save your money for a proper bike. Designed to make money
and not to satisfy. John..............
"""

So, question to John, since you now own two Bromptons what changed? Are
the Bromptons adapted or did you change you pedalling style?

Colin

Bromptons addapted to suit.

Well investigated, that man. It would be futile to wonder why someone
who detests a bike should have such a high turnover in them, unless they
were engaged in criminal activity, or simply lying for no reason.

It's not the first time we've had this from him. I can't be arsed
to dig up references, but for anyone wanting to google, there's some
fun to be had on uk.rec.walking.

Oh, and was that daughter born on Feb.29th? She was 13 for two or three
years, and now another couple of years on she's 14.

My father can guess my age to within two or three years, so that doesn't
sound too odd.

The stuff he sells doesn't look like the type of things to be stolen. I'd
expect lots of his bikes to have non-matching wheels/tyres where the front
was left locked to some railings if it was stolen.

There could be many reasons why he sells a lot of stuff. Maybe he's
helping friends to sell them, maybe he's got an eye for a second hand
bargain, or maybe he just likes buying lots of stuff and has to sell
the old stuff to help finance it. All the kit he sells seems to be in
pristine condition. It's possible that he can't bear shabby loooking
stuff so he sells it on and replaces it while it's still quite new.
Some people do. You may find his behaviour a bit odd and you may
dislike him, but I think it's outrageous to accuse him of being a
criminal on that basis alone. I've teased him once or twice over
camper vans, but I'm concerned that there's an element of a group
ganging up on the non-conformist here.

This place is riddled with non-conformists. The "ganging up" is on
the basis of a non-contributor using the group as free advertising.

Yeah, we really ought to get round to doing something about that one
day.
