i have an old Shogun cromo 500 road bike that is in excellent condition but the bottom bracket is no good.i think its an english thread with a square taper.can anybody recommend a bottom bracket for this bike?thanks.

A Shimano UN53 cartridge BB set or similar should work. About $15-20 depending on where you can get it. Anything fancier is probably excessive for that bike. It is likely a 68mm wide BB shell on the frame. You may need to pull the old one to correctly measure the spindle length accurately. Unless you already have them, you will need BB tools to remove the old and install the new. -
