Just wondering if there is anyone else like me out there who doesn't like having maker's names in huge letters all over bike frames. I'm considering buying a new carbon machine and can afford a couple of grand but don't really want to advertise Cannondale or whatever - if I buy a car it doesn't have Peugeot or Mazda writen all over it - I just want a plain colour, probably just black.
I know there are cheap 'no-name' frames available direct from China but I want a good make that's had all the safety testing and has a good guarantee. Any ideas? Thanks

I prefer a bike that fits well and rides well, most of all. Those are the things I'd be concerned with. You can easily strip a frame if you like and have it painted. I can think of zero manufacturers who don't put their name somewhere on their bikes, except for those no-name frames out of the Far East. FYI, if cars had as little margin as bikes do, looked as much alike as bikes do, and had the small marketing budgets that bikes do, you'd likely see a lot more of the manufacturer's name on cars.

the SUPERSIX EVO BLACK INC by Cannondale, if you have 13 k's to invest

Or you could order a monochrome Trek Project One.
I'm liking this sub $1k CF alternative to the far east frames. Not that I know anything about those bikes either but at first glance this looks to be on the level. I wonder if the -$100 for the "nude" option would be an addition to the current discount down from 1150? The other cheepo CF frame that I would have considered was the Franco Decker Road for about $1100.

And there's also the Columbus SL RAW frame: http://www.chickencycles.co.uk/index.php?cat=54&sub=130, but I haven't seen that outside of any UK dealer.

Interestingly the Columbus Genius frame retails for closer to $4k: http://columbustubi.com/eng/4_5_3.htm. And it's a beaut.
