Brand new SRAM pc48 chain - rollers look badly pitted - should I use it?

I just mounted a new out of the box PC48 chain onto my old trusty steed, and I was surprised to see
that the rollers look pitted even before first use. Am I going to cause accelerated wear on the
freewheel and chainwheels if I ride much with this chain?

The box read "Made in Portugal" on it. I seem to recall recent discussion mentioning that quality of
this chain became an issue when production moved to Portugal.
