Braze-on thread size

Is there a standard thread size for braze-ons for bikes made in (say) the
last ten years? If there isn't a single size, is there a common series?

I'm asking because I've just bought a bottle cage for Mrs Cove's bike and
the plastic screws that came with it are too small in diameter for her
braze-ons. So I'm left hunting around for a couple of cap screws and
wishing I had a "come in handy" tin of miscellaneous fasteners. If I know
which threads are likely, I can make up such a pack by visiting my local
fastener specialist.

*Usually* M5 IIRC, but FSVO "usually". For some bizarre reason known
only to EBC[1], the braze-ons on my '97 Contour 400 are all some weird
imperial size: fortunately the mech workshop here is well supplied with
legacy screws, nuts and bolts!

If not M5 they /should/ be "Mn" where 'n' is an integer and I'd be
surprised if outside the range 3-6 for this. These are pretty much
standard these days, though as above "should" and "are" aren't always
quite the same.

Pete.

[1] I suspect along the lines of "we've found this big box of old braze
ons... I know, we can stick them on the MTBs as nobody puts and racks
and guards on them!"

Usually M5x0.8 for bottle bosses, mudguard/rack eyes etc. M6x1 for
brake bosses, dynamo brackets ...
