If I'm heading out on an early morning ride and looking to stock up on carbs, can bread be toasted or would the process of toasting reduce the carbohydrate value? Consuming bread normally doesn't hold too much appeal but I'd rather do it if it meant more carbs.

thanks

Only if you toast it to black charcoal, regular toasting won't make any difference to the carb amount.

A lot of nutritionist recommend toast bread as its meant to be easier for the body to digest

There's no blanket right or wrong method for everyone since, except for having most of the same parts in generally the same places, we are all exquisitely different in how our bodies process and use food. What you might want to try is to eat your bread/toast both ways on different days and pay attention to how your body reacts. Do you feel light and free or maybe heavy but grounded and which do you prefer? Your body will tell you all you need to know. For a highly informative read try, "Your Body Knows Best" by Ann Louise Gittleman. To good health, Caroline :) .
