Wow.
After only three lifting workouts, I swear I can feel all of my strokes
getting stronger and more efficient. Last night I swam a 3500 yard workout,
comprised of 4x200, 6x150, 8x100, and 10x50, alternating breast and crawl.
My endurance is increasing amazingly already!
Especially my breaststroke. I started doing something that drastically
affects my speed, rhythm, and kick effectiveness, something I've heard
promoted for a long time: lunging your hands forward at the same time as
your kick "snap." I mean *seriously* lunging, to the point where you can
really feel it in your shoulders. Somehow this seemingly minor tweak to my
stroke has made it feel much more effective, and I strongly recommend this
technique to anyone looking to improve their stroke. If you're not really
feeling the "explosion" of your whip kick, then this might be a helpful
trick, because when you already have a good whip kick "snap" and you add an
arm "snap," you really feel an explosion in propulsion.
Just wanted to share. 🙂
